Employment opportunity: Head of Community Engagement
Sefa is looking for a Head of Community Engagement to lead our fee-for-service offering. The role will include investment readiness, due diligence, and developing funding programs in collaboration with partners. It also involves managing a small team of consultants and fellows.
The Head of Community Engagement will oversee all aspects of business development, including devising our service delivery process. This will help build and maintain a robust and profitable pipeline of fee-for-service engagements and a portfolio of social impact funding programs. You will engage with partners (clients, investors, stakeholders) and integrate with the wider business activities of the Sefa group. In doing so you will be helping our clients improve social outcomes in communities across Australia. You will be working towards providing equitable access to finance for purpose-driven organisations.

The Head of Community Engagement will:
Lead Sefa’s fee-for-service offering with a focus on developing long-term partnerships and programs.
Conduct market research on new trends, gaps and opportunities.
Assist in developing new business and partnerships using a co-design approach, integrating capital and capability to result in social outcomes.
Work with the Head of Portfolio Management to co-ordinate deal origination, due diligence and ongoing monitoring relating to fee-for-service engagements.
Work with Sefa Partnerships on joint projects and proposals, with a focus on blended finance and capacity building.

Our office is based in Ultimo, Sydney. We share an office with like-minded organisations including World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The office is Green Star Accredited by the Green Building Council Australia.
Sefa operates a flexible work environment, with the option for working from home. This is ideally a full-time role but we are open to negotiating part-time hours for the right candidate. The Sefa team enjoys five weeks of paid leave each year to recharge.
You have:
Passion, energy, commitment and understanding of the impact investing / social finance / social enterprise sectors.
Capability to co-design fee-for-service engagements and programs in collaboration with a range of partners.
Track record in originating, structuring and overseeing capital raising for a variety of finance transactions for purpose-driven organisations.
Relationship building skills with a focus on patience and resilience, given the nature of the evolving impact investment sector in Australia.
Good analytical skills, e.g. around financial analysis and/or investment assessments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of audiences and levels of technical expertise.
Contribute to Sefa’s thought leadership and oversee impact reporting, working closely with the Communications Manager.
It would be helpful if you have:
Leadership and governance experience.
Understanding of the challenges facing for-purpose organisations in Australia.
Established networks across impact investors, philanthropy, NFP and government in Australia.
